SMEPT - St. Mark Emergency Preparedness Team

The St. Mark Emergency Preparedness Team is a group of people who want to be proactive with being prepared for any emergency that may occur in or around our building at any time. From using the A.E.D. machines we have located in the Narthex and Fellowship Hall or the new Bleed Stop Kits (Same Location as A.E.D.) to possible safety hazard awareness, from slip and fall possibility to downed tree limbs that block the sidewalk. Meetings will be posted in the weekly newsletter.

GOALS:
  1. Create Emergency Plans specific to the needs of SML.
  2. Identify unsafe conditions and correct them as best possible.
  3. To prepare the SML building and family for swift and efficient handling of emergency situations.  Some of the most common emergencies include fire, major medical emergencies, minor injuries such as slip & fall or kitchen accidents, loss of utilities, severe weather conditions, unfriendly visitors or violent events.
  4. Increase the general safety awareness level at our gatherings and on our property.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Volunteer men, women, and youth who are willing to become more aware of their surroundings and be willing to take some training, or use their current skillset, to take a leadership role during emergencies.
  • Chris Bauer, Joe Bartalino, Geoff Lane, Trevor Trelfa, Dan Baker, Glenn Harris, Jeff Coates, Ken Elsey, Tom Kozak, and Jeremy Lobsinger have already offered to participate.

Lutheran Youth Organization

Our youth group
LYO gives the youth of the church opportunities to get involved in many activities at our church.
Contact Tom Kozak for more information.

MCREST

Macomb County Rotating Emergency Shelter Team (MCREST) is a wonderful volunteer experience in which St. Mark turns our church home into an actual home for a week. To make this program successful, we need the assistance of our church family. Please consider volunteering your time, talents, and love to this fantastic program.
St. Mark hosts MCREST once a year, in early October.

Please contact Sarah Bawks or Traci Comer for more information.
